Change Is Scary, So Is Staying The Same!

Change Is Scary, So Is Staying The Same!
This entry is part 11 of 11 in the series The Journey

Thanks for joining me on this journey across the crimson soils of Rwanda to the hectic streets of Uganda, and into fresh beginnings from the oceans. “Becoming” was not only remembering events from my life but also a quiet reconciliation with myself. Each word, every memory included happiness, melancholy, and triumph that helped to shape me today. Maybe as you read, you too noticed bits of your own life—the instances you had to start over and those in which you or the times you questioned your place in the world or the evenings you murmured fortitude into the darkness to keep moving ahead.

Becoming is about not having everything worked out, about achievement or perfection, I have come to see. It’s about learning to live in the in-between, where growth feels terrible, where hope glimmers weakly, yet where change is gradually occurring. It’s about letting yourself change over and over without guilt or worry that you could forget who you were. I see you, everybody, still trying to find your footing, still holding pieces of your former life as you develop new ones. The route you have followed is appreciated. You are free to move at your own speed. Rest is your right. You are allowed to grow differently.

Becoming is a kind of lifelong process, gently reminding you that even when the path appears murky, you are nevertheless growing. And maybe, only perhaps, the beauty is in realizing you are simultaneously a work in progress and a masterwork.

I honor you for your courage, tenacity, and growth into the person you are. May you treat yourself with respect, accepting every iteration of who you have been and every one of who you are yet and destined to be.

With love and light,
– Laetitia Bisangwa

Since each person has a different health path, what helps one person may not help another. Readers should consult their personal healthcare providers for personalized guidance based on their individual needs and circumstances. Rather than replacing the professional, my goal here is to inspire, enlighten, and start conversations that improve and make life more fulfilling relations between you and your medical staff.
