Not Where You Quit: But Where You Rise!

Not Where You Quit: But Where You Rise!

Sometimes the burden of all the things you’ve endured in life becomes so overwhelming that giving up seems like a release. You get weary. Exhausted. Overwhelmed. All of a sudden, the objectives you had been striving for seem unattainable. However, you must re-center on the reality that you did not travel all this way only to give up on yourself. Not after all that you endured to get to where you are now.

This isn’t just another inspirational speech. It serves as a reminder of your fortitude, resiliency, and the aspects of yourself that persisted even when it seemed like the only course of action was to give up. Not after all the difficulties, agony, hard work, and progress it took to get you to where you are today, you can’t give up on yourself. At some point in life, you begin to feel the weight of everything you’ve carried as being unbearable. You become weary. The thought of giving up on the dream, the healing, the progress you’ve made, begins to whisper louder than your hope as life pushes you thin. However, before that idea takes hold, keep in mind who you’ve been during your worst days. After all the heartbreak, disappointment, fear, self-doubt, and unseen battles you’ve endured, you’re not going to give up now. At this point in the journey, you didn’t give up on yourself after enduring seasons that broke you or spending nights in prayer that seemed never to end.

Remember all the hardships you’ve faced: wounds you’ve healed without asking for forgiveness, duties you’ve borne when your shoulders were already burdened, and occasions when you’ve shown up despite your wavering resolve. You made it through everything. And that survival has significance. It signifies that you were not resilient by chance. It means that all versions of you—the child who dreamt, the adult who battled, and the person reading this right now—were working together to bring you here. You owe each of those versions the assurance that it will go on.

Although you may take a break, rest is not the same as giving up. The distinction between exhaustion and defeat, between pausing and giving up, is clear. Not every difficult season marks the end of the story. Growth isn’t always enjoyable. Sometimes healing is not a gentle process. You’re still developing, learning about who you can be, and moving closer to the life that has been silently developing through each setback and little triumph.

You should dedicate yourself to your path. You deserve to see what life looks like when you don’t give up on yourself, not because you have to be strong all the time. Your persistence is what the future version of you is relying on. Your younger self applauds your bravery. And your current self, weary, flawed, but standing, deserves to carry on. You didn’t travel this far to give up. You’ve made it this far to keep moving forward, developing, rising, and entering into all that you’ve fought so hard for. You still have a long way to go before becoming who you are meant to be, and your tale is not yet complete.

Since each person has a different health path, what helps one person may not help another. Readers should consult their personal healthcare providers for personalized guidance based on their individual needs and circumstances. Rather than replacing the professional, my goal here is to inspire, enlighten, and start conversations that improve and make life more fulfilling relations between you and your medical staff.
