There’s nothing quite like becoming a mom 👩👧 for the first time. No matter how many books you’ve read or how much advice you’ve gathered, the truth is—it hits different when you’re in it. The emotions are louder. The love is more profound. The exhaustion is absolute. And the change? It’s forever.
In this series piece, we hear from Demi, a new mom 🤱💖 navigating the messy beauty of first-time motherhood—from that first cry to the quiet moments when everything feels brand new.
“I thought I was preparing for a baby, but I was also meeting a whole new version of me.”
Q & A :
Q: What did you imagine motherhood would be like—and what surprised you the most?
A: Before becoming a mom, I imagined motherhood as a beautiful journey filled with endless cuddles, perfect moments, and a constant sense of Joy. What surprised me the most was the sheer intensity of emotions, the overwhelming love mixed with moments of doubt and exhaustion, and the constant need to adapt and learn
Q: Can you describe the moment you first held your baby?
A: The moment I first held my little one was surreal. It was a mix of pure joy, disbelief, and an Overwhelming sense of responsibility. I remember staring at their tiny face, feeling an instant unbreakable bond, and realizing my life had changed forever.
Q: What’s been the most overwhelming part of becoming a mom so far?
A: The most overwhelming part of becoming a mom has been the constant juggling act. Balancing the needs of a tiny human with my own, managing my home, and trying to maintain a sense of self can feel like an impossible task.
Q: Have you struggled with mom guilt? How do you handle it?
A: Noooooo. Not at all. So when people say mom guilt, I can’t relate. I decided to be 100% in the whatever space I choose to be entirely focused and engaged.
Q: What’s one thing you wish someone had told you before becoming a mom?
A. I wish People didn’t romanticize motherhood. I want them to openly and freely talk about the sleepless nights, the work around the clock nonstop, the demands that come with children. This would allow someone to enjoy motherhood fully instead of always expecting what was next to come.
